ACTIVE DIRECTORY PARTITIONS:-

There are 4 directory partitions in AD.

• Schema Partition.
• Configuration Partion.
• Domain Partition.
• Application Partition.

Schema Partition:

                       Only one schema partition exists per forest.It holds all the information about the object and its attributes.

 

Configuration partition:-

                                  Only one partition exists per forest.It holds all the information about the Domains and their Sites.

 

Domain Partion:-

                         It holds all the information about the users, computers, organisational units(OU) and groups.

 

Application Partition:-

                                It holds all information about the applications running in AD.
